Wise Woman Womb Massage

Who needs this treatment?

The simple answer is every woman,

whether you are just starting menses or going through menopause.

Amongst your circle of female friends and family,

you probably know at least one person who has suffered with

their menstrual cycle, be it irregular, painful or heavy periods,

or someone suffering with Endometriosis or Polycystic Ovaries.

You’re more than likely to know someone who has had trouble conceiving or miscarried.

Or, at the other end of the spectrum of menstrual life, are the 'delights' that come with

Pre-Menopausal and Menopausal women, most menopausal women can relate to 'Hot Flushes'.

Have you ever wondered why so many women have complaints in the pelvic region??

The most common reason is that between 80 – 90% of all women have a displaced Uterus!

What is Wise Woman Womb Massage?

The Wise Woman Womb massage is a non-invasive, external massage applied to the 'Trunk'; the area between your rib cage and pelvic bone on both the front and back of your body.

The main aim is to reposition internal abdominal organs, using gentle yet firm strokes to encourage alignment, for optimum health and well being. By strengthening and toning the  Uterus, it will encourage her to be in the correct position, which will allow the all of the bodily systems to be in balance. The massage also improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen.

The sacrum and coccyx are also encouraged into their correct position. Quite often falls and accidents from our childhood through to our adult lives can cause scar tissue to form, restricting the movement of muscles and ligaments that link from the back to the front of the pelvis. The work in this area encourages an immense sense of freedom in your buttocks, you'll be amazed how much you 'hold' there.

The Wise Woman Womb Massage module incorporates a holistic approach to Womens' health care, with a culmination of many indigenous techniques from around the world, which includes a spectrum of massage techniques, nutrition, emotional and spiritual healing.

 The Uterus

The Uterus is the hollow, pear shaped, pear-sized organ where a developing fetus will grow. An average Uterus is 7.5cms in length, 5cms in breadth and 2.5cms in thickness, weighing between 2-4oz when non menstruating, increasing to about 8oz - 1lb when menstruating, and approx 20lbs when pregnant!

 Correct Position

The classical position of the Uterus is tilted upright. The top is positioned behind and above the bladder. Muscles, ligaments and connective tissue hold the Uterus in her correct position. The weakening and deterioration of these can result in a tipped or tilted Uterus, in which the Uterus is tipped either forwards, backwards and sideways in the pelvis. If you have been told by the medical profession that you have a tilted cervix, or they have trouble finding your cervix - this is because of a misplaced Uterus.

Misplaced Uterus

Why is it so bad if the Uterus is out of alignment??

There are many bodily systems that rely on everything being in its correct place within the body. Nerves, arteries and veins, intestines, lymph glands are all working together in the pelvic region - if the uterus is in the "wrong" position, it can be detrimental to any of the above systems, for example, if the nervous system is being impinged on, then the hormone messengers cannot travel around the body - causing an imbalance of Hormones. Or constipation is caused by the Uterus leaning on the rectum...so you can see, it is vital that the Uterus is encouraged into her correct position.

Common causes of a displaced Uterus

The most common causes are due to an increased pressure on the Abdominal Cavity:
• Carrying heavy loads ~

particularly just before or during menstruation,

or too soon after childbirth
• Obesity
• Severe Constipation
• Chronic Coughs
• Weak ‘core’ muscles
• Repeated pregnancies close together
• Difficult labours
• Scarring from adhesions as a result of endometriosis or fibroids
• Maturity & gravity

Other Common reasons:

• Injury to the sacrum or tailbone a fall or accident
• Wearing high heels
• Walking barefoot on cold floors
• Running on cement floors
• Low levels of oestrogen after menopause can cause deterioration in muscles, ligaments and connective tissue

Contra-indications to Treatment
There are certain situations in which the full treatment is not recommended:
• During or for 3 days before menstruation
• During Pregnancy
• While wearing an IUD (intra-uterine device)
• A pessary being used for organ support will need to be removed before treatment
• If an active infection is present in the pelvic area, or while receiving chemotherapy
